What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions is a revolutionary way to extend the length and thickness of your eyelashes. The lashes are synthetic and tapered from thick to thin to resemble a real eyelash. It is applied on a hair by hair basis to your own lashes for a completely natural look. This process leaves your eyelashes longer, thicker, fuller and more gorgeous. You can now throw out your mascara and look forward to waking up in the morning with beautiful lashes to go.
Having gorgeous eyelashes is like having a superpower. A simple gaze can mesmerize friends and strangers. While a slow wink can make free guacamole appear inside your burrito. Unlike mascara—which you have to paint on and take off day after day after day—eyelash extensions let you wake up, ready to go with supernatural charming abilities. Extensions can be made of synthetic or real materials. But silk or cruelty-free mink hairs look the most naturally-shiny and feel the most feathery-light. It helps to know what look you’re after when you meet with your makeup artist. Different densities, curls, lengths, and shapes can give you subtle accents for more feminine fluttering, or lush ferns for a dramatic gaze.
Application takes some time, since makeup artists have to glue on as many as 120 extensions one at a time. But what the procedure lacks in speed it makes up for in painlessness. If you’re like some people—you might even doze off during it. When you wake, every blink will feel more powerful.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Lash extensions are semi-permanent. With the proper application and no lash adhesive, your lashes are to shed within 4-6 weeks. Lack or proper application and other adhesives may cause lashes to fall off sooner. Each person will differ based on personal care and body chemistry. If you are hard on your eyes, such as rubbing from allergies, picking at lashes, and/or using skin care products and makeup removers, this may cause your lashes to shed sooner.
Will a shower, swimming, exercise, or a visit to the spa affect your extensions?
Allow 24 hours before applying water and/ or skin care products to your face that can touch your lashes. When you need to take a shower, just make sure that the shower head does not aim towards your face, and wash your face with a cloth or cleansing around your lashes. Do not swim for 24 hours and avoid activities and exercise that will cause sweating on your face. Make sure that if you are going to services on other soft services around the time you are getting your lashes applied, that you get the extensions last or wait 24 hours before getting a facial or so on.
How often should you get a touch-up?
Touch ups should be followed up from 3-5 weeks. Again, every person is different. You want to make sure that you book an appointment before you leave to insure that you are able to get your fill when needed. If you wait too long and too many or all of your lashes fall out, you will require a full set again. If you have an appointment set-up and you feel your eyelashes still look full and beautiful, then you could call and push your appointment forward a week.
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
No. The only way your lashes can be damaged is that they are pulled out prematurely. It can only be done by the costumer if they are picking at their lashes. This will never happen while getting your lashes applied, as it if a very gentle procedure. Not even removable of the lashes will require pulling.
Can you apply mascara to your lash extensions?
You may apply mascara, but never waterproof mascara. Novalash offers a mascara formulated especially for lash extensions. You may use your own mascara. However, if used every day, certain ingredients in that mascara may help break down the adhesive bond. I actually wouldn’t recommend using mascara at all, as it isn’t needed. The adhesive is already black, as well as the synthetic lashes. The lashes are not only black, but also thick in diameter creating thick black lashes about the use of mascara.
Can anyone apply extensions?
Make sure that the person applying lash extensions is a certified lash extensionist. Not only is it important to make sure that the beautician is certified, but that you want to make sure that they are certified through Xtreme Lash.
